Enabling 2,000+ Cross-Country Drivers to Dispatch, Track, and Sign Deliveries Without Internet.
Built a cross-platform React Native / SQLite mobile application with deterministic conflict resolution, automated route caching, and biometric signature capture for nationwide freight carriers.
Zero delivery receipts or driver signatures lost across 450,000+ completed transit miles.
Invoices generated immediately upon delivery signature sync instead of end-of-week paper processing.
Maintained over 6 months of continuous active deployment across iOS and rugged Android devices.
The Context & Initial Architecture
A national freight logistics provider needed drivers operating across rural highway corridors with intermittent cell coverage to log bills of lading, capture recipient signatures, and sync fleet telematics seamlessly.
The Technical Bottleneck & Constraints
Legacy off-the-shelf mobile solutions failed whenever connectivity dropped, causing drivers to lose delivery logs, leading to costly manual re-entry and delayed billing cycles.
System Design & Implementation Flow
We engineered an offline-first mobile architecture utilizing WatermelonDB / SQLite local databases, background sync workers, and Vector-clock conflict resolution engines.
1. Local-First SQLite Persistence
All driver mutations (status updates, photos, signatures) commit instantly to encrypted on-device SQLite tables with zero UI lag.
2. Resilient Sync Queue Engine
A background service monitors network reachability and streams compressed batch deltas over HTTP/2 as soon as cellular signal is detected.
3. Deterministic Conflict Resolution
Server-side reconciliation engine verifies state transitions with cryptographic timestamps, ensuring multi-party deliveries never overwrite critical status logs.
“Our drivers love the app because it never freezes or complains about lack of signal. The offline sync engine Onesign engineered works like magic.”
