Architecting a Zero-Trust Double-Entry Ledger Processing Over 100,000 Transactions Daily.

Engineered an immutable, event-driven ledger system in Next.js and PostgreSQL with Zero-Trust Row Level Security, eliminating reconciliation discrepancies and achieving sub-50ms audit compliance.

100K+Daily Transactions

Handled sustained peak bursts with zero database locking or transaction deadlocks.

38msP95 Settlement Latency

Reduced from over 1,400ms on the previous monolithic legacy infrastructure.

0.00%Reconciliation Errors

Immutable audit trail verified 100% accurate across two consecutive banking audits.

01. Client Background

The Context & Initial Architecture

A fast-growing multi-currency payments gateway was experiencing database lock contention and reconciliation discrepancies during peak remittance windows. Their legacy Node.js monolith couldn't scale without significant latency spikes.

02. The Technical Problem

The Technical Bottleneck & Constraints

The system required strict ACID double-entry accounting guarantees, zero transaction loss under network partition, strict regulatory isolation between enterprise tenants, and audit reporting ready for banking partner inspections.

03. The Engineering Solution

System Design & Implementation Flow

We designed an event-sourced distributed ledger using PostgreSQL row-level locks, partitioned tables, and asynchronous settlement workers orchestrated via Docker and Redis queues.

1. Edge Ingestion & Idempotency Check

API requests validated at the edge with cryptographic HMAC signatures and Redis-backed idempotency keys to prevent duplicate transaction execution.

2. Zero-Trust Database Transaction

PostgreSQL advisory locks execute balanced debit/credit ledger mutations in a single atomic database function guarded by Row Level Security.

3. Asynchronous Webhook & Event Dispatch

Transactional outbox pattern dispatches Realtime WebSocket updates to the client console and queues signed HTTP webhooks to merchant endpoints.

“Onesign Concept transformed our payments infrastructure from a fragile liability into our biggest competitive advantage. Their zero-trust architecture is flawless.”
